Texas Cheese Fries: Crispy spiced French fries are baked with two kinds of melted cheese and loaded with crispy bacon, scallions, jalapeños and sour cream!
Game day food, home cooking, or party entrees … I do not care what you call them, but those are all my favorite foods!
These loaded Texas Cheese Fries take it to the next level. They are like a big, warm, delicious, cheese-filled hug.
This may sound weird, but once you dive in and try some of those cheese fries, you'll know exactly what I mean.
Charge them with all rubbers and I promise that nobody can say no.
Texas Cheese Fries Toppings:
There are so many types of Cheese Fries recipes in the world and I love almost all of them.
This is the most classic version, most commonly called Texas Cheese Fries, with melted cheese, bacon, jalapeños and spring onions.
I was born and raised in Texas, and for all my life I can not tell you what those cheese fries Texans * do *. Maybe the jalapeños ?!
But I can tell you, they are absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Both jalapeños or fresh jalapeños are perfect – use the ones you personally prefer.
Optional fun with these classic cheese fries:
- Blue cheese: instead of the other cheese or in addition to them.
- Chili: A Texas meat chili is great for making chili cheese fries!
- Caramelized onions: always so good.
- Nacho cheese: If you want to eat fairly, this is the cheese you need.
- Shredded Chicken: Add this chicken, take a starter or garnish and turn it into a delicious dinner!

Cheese for cheese fries
I like to use a combination of cheese to achieve the perfect taste. My two personal favorites are sharp cheddar and Monterrey Jack.
What I do not consider optional is the cheddar. You definitely want to have the cheddar flavor in your cheese fries.
However, there are many other options for grated cheese that you can add: Mozzarella, Colby or Pepper Jack.
If you prefer, you can also use Nacho cheese or Queso with a 90s theme. Have fun with your Cheese Fries!
What kind of french fries?
This is a personal choice, but I think the best cheese fries are made with steak fries that season with spiced salt.
I do not recommend the already spiced steak fries they sell in stores, as the taste in combination with all toppings can be overwhelming.
Thinner fries in fast food style are a good back-up option, but do not usually withstand the toppings and steak fries.
If necessary, a crinkle fries is also a good runner for the steak fries. They are thicker and make a bit better than the thin fries.
Prepare the fries as you like … in a traditional fryer, an air fryer or in the oven. You only need hot chips!
If you do not cook the french fries in the oven, make sure you preheat the oven so you can put in the french fries and melt the cheese right at the end.
These Texas Cheese Fries are the next level in the right way. They are always the first to attend a party.
